The Priory of the Orange Tree (2023)

Paula's first graduate project, a television adaption of Samantha Shannon's high fantasy novel The Priory of the Orange Tree (2019), takes inspiration from Elizabethan England, Edo Period Japan, and Safavid Persia to correspond to the story's three significant locations. The production heavily explores the themes of cultural beliefs, such as myths and religions, and feminism. Through costume design, the project aims to present both men and women as equal by avoiding distinctive gendered dressing.
